Hardwood is Hard

Well a major step in the logroom took place today.  My brother and I installed the oak flooring - a much bigger job than I had guessed.  it does however look fantastic and once finished it will be the only room we show visitors. - "Where is your bathroom?" - "Sorry we don't have one..."


Oh yes, here is the fixture we found in the in-laws basement.  We had it rebuild and I think it looks great.

2 - Leigh, I picked the right time to check in. The logroom looks great! Regarding supplemental heat, we purchased an electric fireplace for our living room last winter, and we love it. It is nice to look at, and puts out 1500 watts. Costs 9 cents an hour to run.

Alternatively, I think that we have a gas fireplace for you if you want it. Recall that our family room came with a gas fireplace, but we installed a wood stove that we use instead. It is relatively new (maybe 5 years old), and has a wall thermostat. It has a chrome front and an oak mantle, that with a little finesse should be able to come off the wall in one piece.
